One Act Plays

The Mechanics was first performed at Trades Hall in the Annexe Room, Melbourne, on 6 October 1999 with the following cast:

COLIN ... Russell Healy
NORBET ... Adrian Nunes

In a lunchroom of a car repair workshop, Colin sits at a table, flipping through a car magazine and eating his meat pie with sauce. Dressed in his coveralls and smelling of oil and grease, Colin is emerged in his own moment as Norbet storms into the lunch room, his only escape from the frustrating, yet attractive women he is attending to in the car repair shop.

Location
The mechanic's workshop could be located anywhere in the western world.

Relationships
Norbet and Colin are co-workers. Norbet is a long standing employee and Colin the fresh face in the workshop. Norbet attempts to take Colin under his wing and teach him some new tricks.

On Stage
This play is written around a very simple set of a table and two chairs. Although not necessary, the set could be dressed with items found in a mechanic's workshop.
